Struggleville. Population: Me.

Several years ago, a few friends and I used the above description amongst ourselves when we were wrestling with various things going on in our lives. Struggleville was definitely where I was living last week and continue to try to drive out of this week… Get in my rearview mirror, please! I can only share in generalities, so I hope you will get the big idea. Here's the nutshell: parenting is hard. (I know, biggest understatement of the year!) Parenting children with unknown pasts is challenging. Parenting is a weighty honor and a role I desire to steward faithfully. The reality is, I don't have any idea what I'm doing and I cannot do it in my own strength... Two weeks ago, I spoke at a local church's Mothers of Pre-Schoolers (MOPS) gathering. I love this picture... It was taken during our six week adoption stretch in Ukraine. This little one was 7 years old in the picture. Can you believe that we will celebrate four years home this May?!. Most days I feel like she and all her siblings have always been with us. Other days I wonder, "where did you come from?!." Ha ha ha... We have our ups and downs... Visiting with Family in Virginia

On Monday morning our crew packed up and headed north to visit with family in Virginia at my parents' new home. Tony decided to kick off the vacation stylin' his new shirt... We were there 5 minutes before kids changed and joined their cousins for a swim... Nothing like cousins.... We have family down representing New York, Ohio, North Carolina, Florida, Illinois and Virginia... James is in heaven with endless fishing... (you can barely see it, but he has a pole in hand)... Finally got to meet my new niece, Lenora Naomi. Precious... Kayaking off mom and dad's dock... Sunsets off Lucas Creek (which is off the Warwick River) are spectacular...
